HEART HEALERS: Plant Guides on the Path to the Heart

  • The Holcombe Jimison Farmstead Museum in Lambertville 1605 Daniel Bray Highway Lambertville, NJ, 08530 United States (map)

This program is being presented by the Herb Society of America's Delaware Valley Chapter.

The heart straddles worlds as the essential organ of the circulatory system, and a gateway to the emotional body steeped in metaphor and poetic resonance. Plant medicine traditions from around the world have long associated the heart with plants that support both the physical tissue of the organ, and the subtle temperament of the spirit. Join herbalist Lindsay Napolitano to journeyforth on the path to the heart, at the intersection of herbal medicine, myth, physiology, and folklore. Discover new herbs to support physical and emotional wellbeing, and re-examine familiar plant allies imbued with tradition and narrative themes of the heart.

Lindsay Napolitano is an herbalist, writer, and educator living and working within the fields and forests of the Delaware River Watershed. She is the co-founder of Fields Without Fences, under the auspices of which she cultivates and tends wild gardens and woodlands while growing and crafting plant medicine for her extended community. Combining a love of story, myth, metaphysics, and ecology, Lindsay weaves an inspired narrative throughout her teachings on the subjects of herbalism, permaculture, and agroecology. She is a practicing clinical herbalist and a writes professionally on subjects including herbalism, permaculture, and environmental renewal. Her work emerges out of a deep curiosity and reverence for the healing power of plants to positively transform our internal and external ecologies. You can usually find her outside, aiding and abetting the plants in their ceaseless quest for world domination.
